"Bujroom in Mostar", 1.7.-7.7.2008., OKC Abrasevic Mostar
The exhibition
„Bujroom in Mostar“ is the first project that AB Art production
has realized, within the Youth cultural center Abrasevic in Mostar. The exhibition
was set up in the cafe-club space“Kosta“ at the YCC Abrasevic,
in the period of 01.07. – 07.07.2008. It followed the concept of exhibiting
outside of gallery and museum spaces, and it was site – specific, as
the main problem that the artists were expected to reflect was the interwinment
of public and private spheres in this very place. Artists were also induced
to react on the questions of public and private in contemporary context, and
different phenomena through which they manifest. Fourteen young artists presented
their artwork in different media : Belma Arnautovic, Tina Bikic, Mehmed Begic,
Naida Begovic, Sabrina Begovic, Enisa Bravo, Nermin Hamzagic,
Merima Jasarevic, Mak Mujezinovic, Ivana Radic, Studio Lisica,
Eldin Smajlovic, Adisa Vatres i Mela Zuljevic.
Public discussion: “Treating women sexuality through performance”, Pitchwise festival of woman art, 12.9.2008., Sarajevo
The meaning of performance comes from the act of performing, which suits to Performative functions of language. Judith Butler thinks that conclusion to which “sex” is an ideal construction that forcefully materialize in time, Is not a simple fact, nor inert state of the body, but rather a process in which regulative norms materialize the “sex” and complete this materialization by constant repeating. The necessity of this repetition is a sign that materialization is never fully completed, and that bodies are never entirely subject to norms that forced them to materialize. Therefore, the performativity must be understood not as an individual or deliberate “act” but rather as a reiterative and quotative practice by which discourse produces actions it sets. This was the starting point to discuss the works of the following artists: Carolee Schneemann, Faith Wilding, Judy Chicago, Suzanne Lacy, Avive Rahmani... Speakers: Amila Puzic and Anja Bogojevic, VJing by Mela Zuljevic
